I am in contact with a local service member who is currently deployed and would like to help out an elite team of 25 who are near his location. The message to me stated:

"They don't have anything where they are, not even hot water for a shower( but the water is always warm because the bladders get hot from the sun). When I gave them a box of supplies I received they told me they don't get much stuff sent to them."

He said they were really excited when he gave them a box. His suggested items would be unscented body/baby wipes, antibacterial lotion, protein snacks, toiletries (deodorant soap, shampoo, they don't have any access to stores around them and rely on mail for these items if they don't bring enough in the beginning), beef jerky, hard candies, and individual drink flavor packets. Monetary donations would also be appreciated to help cover the expense of shipping. Large flat rate boxes are $17.35 each to ship. I would also encourage cards/letters also with the donors email address listed. Packages to this location are taking almost 4 wks for arrival so the sooner we can send items the better.

Donations can be dropped off at any of our drop off locations:

Randy & Bob's Auto Body
Shoe Sensation in the Clearview Mall

Digital Technologies, LLC in Greater Butler Mart
Five Below (Butler PA - items can be purchased here and put in their donation box)

Thank you & PLEASE feel free to share this information to help one of our Heroes from our local area!!

We proudly support "K-9 Hero Haven"

Click image for Website
K9 Hero Haven is a 100% volunteer organization. K9 Hero Haven is dedicated to serving the military, veterans, and first responders by providing working dogs a home for retirement. The K-9s employed with the military and first responders are the best at what they do. They are expected to work in the most toughest of environments and face the harshest of conditions. At any moment, they are expected to selfishly give their live to save ours.

K9 Hero Haven helps to transition dogs to retirement. If at all possible, we want to re-unite

a dog with its handler. We give preference to provide veterans and law enforcement with retired working dogs in honor of their sacrifices. We strive to educate the public on the roles that these dogs place in our world, and to highlight the level of training which goes into to these dogs never to forget the dedication to their service in keeping us safe from danger.

We work hard to find good homes for our dogs. We also work to provide dignity and respect to the dogs who need some additional work to prepare them for their journey to retirement.

NOTHING to us is more important than our Veterans!

To these men and women, we offer our profound thanks.  As a small token of our respect, we give all Veterans a 10% discount on all labor.

For deploying, or deployed personnel, or any Vet who has returned from deployment within 30 days, we perform ALL LABOR FREE OF CHARGE.

DURING MEMORIAL DAY WEEK, M-F:   With proof of Veteran's status -- ALL labor done 50% OFF.

Our store's new "Memorial Wall" to two fallen heroes of our county.

LTC Michael McLaughlin (KIA Iraq, 5 Jan '06), 1/229th Field Artillery, Headquarters Battery, Service Battery, Battery A and Battery B, 1/107th Field Artillery, Headquarters Battery and Service Battery 28th Infantry Division Artillery, Headquarters Battery, 2nd Brigade Combat Team. Awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

SGT Carl Morgain (KIA Iraq). 1st Battalion, 112th Infantry Regiment, Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman Badge.

I know both families, and wanted to pay my respects, and thanks to my tech/partner, Kelly (and her Dad), the tribute finally got done!  We're working on having an American Eagle painted on the wall above, with the wings drapped down over the kneeling wood cut-out of the praying American soldier.

UPDATE:  THANK YOU to all those who helped us collect Christmas Cards - our FIRST Annual Cards for Heroes Chrismas Card event.  At total of 642 Christmas Cards were sent to our contact at the Watler Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. My business partner & friend,  Kelly Montag Kramlich came up with this idea, and it was a wonderful event to participate in!

A special thank you to the Sergeant Major at WRNMMC - (he knows who he is) - who was graciious enough to get Command permission to accept the parcels of cards, and who volunteered to assemble volunteers from the ranks, to personally deliver cards to our recovering service men and women!

Without the Sergeant Major assisting, this would not have been possible, and we thank him for his help from the bottom of our hearts!

Thank you too, to the Summit Township Sportsman's Club members who group signed numerous cards!

Thank you also, to the Butler Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) who likewise signed numerous cards!

A special thanks to Gene McLaughlin who hung fliers for this event in various locations around Butler - we received many individual cards due to his extra efforts and help - he also provided address labels.  Not only that, he got his grandson, Palmer Cuney, who got some of his classmates, Cameron Marshall, Brendan Haggert & Mikey Koenig, to provide and sign many cards.

NOTE!  The Facebook Page urging cards be sent to Walter Reed (Georgia Ave, Wash., D.C.) is a SPOOF - that hospital CLOSED over four years ago.  Likewise, the one urging that cards be sent to the new location in Bethesda while well intentioned, is NOT legitimate.  SO many cards are received that they are "Returned to Sender" because EVERY card has to be inspected, BEFORE delivery (for safety, health & security reasons) and they simply do not have the time, or resources to do that.  Hence, our profound thanks to the Sergeant Major!

My son's MRAP after an IED rolled it over.  Only the driver's alertness saved them from a worse fate.  The driver is pictured, below.

My son's IED damaged MRAP, and the alert driver!
 Do not fear,
for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

This kid's story, and his concern for a soldier will bring tears to your eyes.  More kids should have this kind of care & compassion.

A rare glimpse into the Tomb Guards at Arlington National Cemetary ... I spent many, many hours over several years of being stationed at Ft. Myers, and the D.C. area.  These guys are truly awesome, dedicated soldiers.
